Category: Let's talk
i can say that i am not all that religous or anything. my grandma and i were talking tonight and she keeps telling me i need to get it together and become a christian. she says the lord is coming soon and it could be anytime. the things she told really got me wondering. so people i wanna how long do you think it will be till he comes back and whn he does will you be with him or not.
i'm not sure when he will come back but it's something to think about and when he does i will be with him
I am not really sure but i no i am going with him.
"ye shall not know the day nor the hour" "I shall come as a thief in the night" I know those are from the Bible, somewhere. that's all :)
True enough. Perhaps he has come and gone and found us all wanting.
i've actually been here for 26 years cretins! duh
LMAO DAN!
Lol Dan!
ok lol
Look fokes, I have many mistakes, amongst others cursing. I do however believe that God exists, that He loves me, and that He will return some day to fetch us all.
I know that I should try to please God, and that I should live the correct life, even though it's hard, and I fail to do so endlessly.
I also believe that my Christianship isn't something I should force onto others.
We live in a world where everyone is free to believe and think and say what he or she wants.
I believe that I should try to get my life in order and myself together so that I am ready when God returns.
And it's true that no one on this Earth knows when God will return, but (speaking for myself), I must do my best to be ready when He comes. He can come within 10 seconds, or after 10 decades, Who knows!
Oh yes, one thing I forgot to mention, is that, because I believe in God, it doesn't mean that I have the right to judge other people on their beliefs and tell them they're wrong or right.
Everyone has the right to follow his or her own choice of religion, and for most people, the reason they chose to follow a religion, is often a well-thought through struggle. But that day when God comes back, will for me, be a happy one.
In response to both of your questions, I only have one answer.
Never.
i'm with ellie on this one.
As an agnostic, my answer is simple. I don't know. I don't even know if there is any kind of deity who will or will not return. I think I'll just go about my business and not speculate on it too much.
Well, I actually heard on a film we were watching in school that, I think it was the Mayans, predicted that the world would end in 2012. So that kind of gets me wondering, since they were right in predicting and sophisticated making stuff. Can't think of exact details at the moment, but yeah, that part about the world ending in that year just stayed in my head since my eighth grade year when I watched that documentary. But If they're right again about that, I won't be surprised, but if not, and in fact, whether or not they are, the Bible does say that we don't know when Jesus will come back, so I really wouldn't know when the big Revelation thing will happen. Maybe it's happening slowly; that's all I can think of. And all I can say about whether or not I'll be with him in Heaven is that I don't know. I know I'm generally a good person but I do have some things to work on still. SO I don't want to say I'm definitely going to Heaven if I'm not 100 percent sure of it. I really don't think I'd go to Hell either. I don't know, all I can do is do my best to be a better person and let God decide where I'll go when I die.

Yes, the Bible did say to keep an eye out. God didn't say the precise day, month, hour, or year, but he said he'd come as a thief in the night, EG, a surprise, and that we need to get ready. He spoke of some signs, a lot of which I don't understand because a lack of knowledge of current and past events. That's why when my dad read me Revelation as a kid and explained some things, I understood, but recently I read it on my own and was totally lost. As to if I am going with Him, I would think so but then again we as humans, as people haven't the right to judge ourselves, God knows our hearts and knows where we are going. I pray every day that my name, my friends names, my familys names, are written in the book of life whether they are saved or not as much as we are concerned because God knows far better than we do on who is saved or not. -Melissa
well, grin, there's one thing to say, everyone that's ever predicted the end of the world has been wrong! So far at least, not a good track record!
I get the impression that most people accept that the world will end some day, like they acccept that the sun rises and sets. I find this interesting, because this world-ending activity is done on purpose by assorted deities and isn't due to, let's say, the planet just naturally deteriorating over time. Somebody apparently has to come in and end the world on purpose, and of course do they tell us why it has to happen? Of course not!Now what about that hyperspace bypass? LOL!
I guess, for anything in life. except numbers, and maybe space there's an end to everything. So naturally people think the worlds got to end someday! I kind of figure it'll probably be a nuke or something else we build that will do it! doesn't it say somewhere in the bible there will be a great light in the sky or something like that. well. . .
Interesting discussion. After all "being prepared" when God comes at the endof the world really just means, be a good person and try to follow the morales of the bible (or your religious text, after all most other religions, well some anyways, predict the similar end of the world). And even if people are non Christians I think that's a good rule to follow. The morales are really simple, be considerate, treat others as you'd like to be treateed, don't steal, don't cheat etc. I think being a good person is so essential to one's hapiness in life and definitely makes for a better society I don't see why people shouldn't always try to be helpful and nice and just make the most of it all and that's what's being ready means in my mind. I'm nowhere near perfect but I know I try to be a good person and I'm religious although I think the end of the world isn't about a big lightning in the sky and God stepping down to select those who believe in him (or her of course) but it's about the plent deterioarting, about us somehow destroying ourselves through greed or weapons experiments or some sort of a plague or possibly a metior or a huge volcanic erruption, the planet we live on is, after all, by no means 100% stable and there are lots of dangers, a super nova going off at a relatively close distance e.g. could send such gigantic electronic pulses to earth that it might kill a lot of people and animals and that's already happened in earth's history and after all in 5 billion yers the sun is predicted to go out .. so nothing lasts forever, not in this world, what you choose to believe happens after that is entirely up to you, but I know I want to be prepared. I'm definitely Christian although I respect the views of those who are not but I don't see why you shouldn't try to be a nice and responsible individual no matter what your convictions are, then at the end we'll all take the consequences and find out if we were right or wrong.
cheers

No undoubtable proof has been found that God ever came to Earth. However in answer to the question, the great thing about your grandmother is that she's old so to an extent her mad beliefs are understandable. Tell her that God is here and is using the identification of "The Waynderful Wangel". Oh and if any of the proffets ever come near me, I'll have them assasinated, in retalliation for all the suffering that has been caused in their names.
and of course that would make you so much better than those that had caused the suffering in the passed! hmm
that goes a long ways toards peace and harmony. pass me another joint dude! No thanks!
I'm not really sure when the Lord will come back, but I definitely know that I am going with him to heaven. I am praying for my sister and I'm really scared about her, because I'm afraid she will go down the wrong path. I'm thinking that she will go towards hell. But that's not what I want. I want her to lead a normal life with God and to have a strong relationship with him. I'm pretty sure that the devil is trying to tempt her to not follow God. I was saved in the 8th grade, and I felt like all of my sins were forgiven.
I'm off to heaven too. I'm going to be the first nuclear suicide bomber and I'm going to whipe the place and all the stupid people who got there right out.
you really are an idiot sometimes Waynderful Wangel
Amen to that.
Wow I'm confused here. Does WW intend to commmit suicide after he's dead .. and further more does he believe you can carry things into the afterlife. I read somewhere that those who commit suicide do not go to heaven .. and I got the feeling they mighthave installed advanced weapon detection up there, espcially after 9/11.
Cheers

LOL, B, were you being a smart ass? Partially, even? 'Cause that was funny! (About WW that is lol)
look, im not that religious but yeh, it would be nice to see him or her, i dont really no what kinda god i believe in or if i even do believe there is a god, i mean, something had to make us right? as for electras comment, that was kinda, um, stupid to say that? you could've just not said anything at all? il just be sure to remember how dumb u are now?
Well as for me, I just don't know either if this world would come to and end or not, and well i don't really care when the sun is going to explode, not if its after i die, (grin) but still.... i mean well I am just trying to get the best out of myself. I am also sometimes wrong because I know I am doing stuff i am not supposed to be doing, if I wanna be a good person..... hmm..... and lol its not passed but past.
Well regarding the many catastrophies that had just happened, I have the feeling that it will not take that long anymore.
I would just like to say that The Waynderful Wangel has become my hero.
That be all. :-D
With regard to the insensitivity of some people towards others who do believe in God, only the following:
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Thanks
in fact, if we suppose that bible was written 3 century later than Christ, to think that this is true is not possible, because this shows bible is not God's words, it was a human words. besides nobody can show a miracle in that book to make people believe. besides, none of the other holy books weren't chosen by rolling a table *lol*
ellectra, if you found the things that ww said either clever or funny then you clearly have a lot more growing up to do than i first thought!
here here Dan, although I must disagree with your sometimes comment, it ws my impression that quangle wangle was stupid all the time. ah well, guess one thing in his favour is he's consistent
LOL, as I said before, I don't know, either, and had trouble understanding the book of Revelation reading it by myself this time around. I have no idea when the time will be, but I am trying to do anything to be ready, like reading the Bible so that I can know what is supposed to happen like one of the basics--not taking the mark of the beast for example, so I know what to do when these times come if they do in my lifetime. I am also praying that God gives me understanding of the Bible so that I'm not just reading it for nothing y'know? If that means I need to read the book of Rev more than once I will because it really confused me, LOL. So if some of you were confused about the end too, you're not alone.
Well, I am not well aquainted with the bible, I think the best bits were depicted in Andrew Lloyd webber’s “joseph and his amazing technicoloured dream coat”, however, I was at school with some extremely religious people who believed firmly in the tellings of the book of revelations. Personally I think it’s pretty scary stuff, and if taken literally, resemble something out of a steven king novel. I’ll be honest, I’m not convinced about the reality of god “coming again”, after all, if there is an afterlife, when you die, then aren’t you supposed to be with god then? Why would he come back to get the mortals who are all still on earth who will be with him in a few years time anyway? Or is the theory that god will get sick of looking down on earth after a while which is why he’ll tell everyone to come home.
to the people who're offended by us athests, leave us alone. we're entitled to have our oppinions just as you are, but don't go forcing god down our throats!
Whoa, chill, people. I do believe that J was merely asking a question and our opinions; no one is forcing anything down anyone's throats. Sometimes, we just take the opposite viewer's opinion as a smack in the face, well what I have learned is we just need to ignore it. I personally am not trying to force anything down anyone's throat but am stating my opinion, and apologies if it does seem that way.
atheism is such an unreasonable idea I think, because the miracles in the holy books show that God is a fact. because, god wanted people to know God, so there are many miracles in holy books (for I'm not christian, I don't know if there are solid miracles in bible, in my holy book there are many solid miracle that proves God)
I'm Satan's little helper, now all worship me.
well, I respect anyone's beliefs and if people believe that what is written in a book is proof of the existance of a higher being, then that is of course good for them. however, in my view, what is written in the bible isn't solid proof of anything, but each to his/her own and ... hmmm oh mighty blindguy, how shal we refer to thee, *grins*
Hey SB, I totally agree with you, because before I believe my own religion, I examined six religion, including Christian, Jewism, Hinduism, Budism, and Confucus, but I decided on Islam because the most proper to me was this because the miracles and the profs were very convinced to me.
love ya!
Ohhh, it's Jared the blindguy Almighty! Be afraid! Be very afraid! Not. Hahahahaha!
yep
If I sent out the impression that I want to force mye beliefs down anybody's throat, apologies.
I just feel that I as a Christian should respect other people's views, and that my views should also be respected.
WB, I will be alive in heaven and that's how I'll be able to set off my nuclear device and get to hell. When I get there, I'll free all those who are only there because they realised God and the proffets are all bastards and since obviously part of me had to be alive in order for me to get there, I'll blow myself up there, and that's why gthere'll be know heaven and hell assuming there is one already. Electra isn't stupid and shedoesn't need to grow up. She just realises the stupidity of those who believe something just because it's written in a book and they are all stupid.
We are not stupid. We have the right to believe whatever we want so there.
not talking directly to you mel, but there are many "christians" on here, who bring up god in every conversation. we dont force them to be athists, so they dont have the rite to force us to be "believers".
Well, I see what you mean, but sometimes, there's just people who love to talk about the Lord! I know I do, but some do more than others. I see what you're saying, but I know some of these people, and they, most of the people I've seen, I mean, don't try to force God down people's throats; they just love to talk about Jesus! *Smile* and I don't have a problem with that. Heck, I don't even really have a problem with people talking about athiesm (spelling wrong sorry!) as long as they dont insult other people y'know?
Okay to the bible again: If you believe in god it doesn't have to mean you believe in the bible or that you believe every single word that book contains. See for example I do believe that the bible are stories, but they must mean something.
Holie war, eliminate all infidels, praze alla!
Holy war! Destroy the Normals and Pinkboys! Praise Bob!
